Ordering from your prescription

1. Your prescription

Your first step to ordering glasses from Focalise is to have a copy of your prescription in front of you. You can use a prescription from a previous eye test so long as it is less than two years old. If you don’t have a recent prescription, visit your local optician and have an eye test.

It’s your right to ask for a copy of your prescription and your optician must give you a copy if asked. Don’t feel obliged to purchase glasses from that optician.

It’s what they want you to do. It’s time to change your view and break that habit.

2. Reading your prescription

Sample of Prescription

Hopefully, you can read your prescription (example above).

What does it all mean?

Your prescription will have right and left values for the correction of your vision

Sphere or SPH is the correction for long or short sightedness

Cylinder or CYL is the correction for Astigmatism

AXIS is the axis that the correction for Astigmatism needs to be set at

Addition or ADD relates to your reading correction where you need glasses for reading and distance

Prism and Base may be used for correcting double vision

IMPORTANT - make sure you enter the correct "+" or "-" value - this is the most common error when ordering online. Note also that your prescripton may contain both "+" and "-" values

Some other common abbreviations:

Plano, 0.00, infinity - all mean no correction needed

OD - right eye

OS - left eye

PD - pupillary distance
